Dev Switch for Android

Privacy Policy

Effective 9 September 2026. This policy applies to the Android app published as com.kodeelite.devswitch.

In brief. Dev Switch is a developer utility that runs entirely on your device. It has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no server of its own. The only network activity is the map service used by the mock location feature, and it occurs only while you are using the map.

Who we are

Dev Switch is published by KodeElite ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where that information stays, and the choices available to you.

What we do not do

Information stored on your device

The app keeps its settings and working data in private app storage on your device. This data is never uploaded, and it is removed when you uninstall the app. It consists of:

Your location

The app requests location permission for a single purpose: centering the map on your current position when you tap "My location" in the mock location picker. Your actual position is displayed on the map and used for nothing else. It is not stored, not converted to a place name, and not sent to any service.

The test position that the app supplies to the system is a point you select on the map. It is not your actual location.

Installed applications

The App inspector lists the applications installed on your device and displays details such as version, declared permissions, and signing certificate fingerprints. The Deep link tester identifies which application handles a given link. This information is read from the device and shown on screen. It is not collected, stored elsewhere, or transmitted.

Network requests

The app connects to the internet only to display the map in the mock location feature. While you use the map, the following providers receive requests from your device:

Mapbox
Receives the map area you are viewing, the coordinates of the point you selected, and route start and end points. The Mapbox SDK's usage telemetry is switched off in the app. As with any web request, your IP address is visible to Mapbox.
Used for map tiles, place names for a selected point, place search, and route directions.
OpenStreetMap Nominatim
Receives the coordinates of the point you selected. As with any web request, your IP address is visible to the service.
Used to obtain a place name for a selected point when Mapbox does not provide one.

These requests carry only the selected point or the visible map area, never your actual position. Each provider processes the data it receives under its own privacy policy, linked above.

Permissions

Each permission the app requests exists for one of the purposes below.

Location
Centers the map on your position when you ask. Never stored or transmitted.
Query all packages
Lists installed applications in the App inspector and resolves deep links.
Notifications
Shows the ongoing notification, with a Stop control, while a keep-awake, mock location, route, or locale session is running.
Display over other apps
Shows the floating controls and the keep-awake overlay above other applications.
Foreground services
Keeps a session you started running while you test another application.
Ignore battery optimisation
Presents Android's standard exemption dialog only when you opt in, so that a long session is not ended by the system mid-test.
Run at startup
Restores a session that was running before the device restarted.
Request delete packages
Enables the Uninstall action in the App inspector. Android always asks you to confirm.
Write secure settings, change configuration
Power the developer switches and per-app language. These are never granted by installing the app. You grant them yourself with a single adb command and can revoke them the same way.
Mock location
Allows Android to list Dev Switch as a mock location application. It takes effect only after you select the app in Developer options.

Sharing from the app

Some screens offer a Share action, for example to send application details or a link to another app. Sharing happens only when you tap it, through Android's share sheet, to the application you choose. We have no visibility into what you share.

Children

Dev Switch is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If the way the app handles information changes, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change. The current version is always available at this address.
